1. WHAT IS A VIRUS

A virus is a type of computer program that, when executed, replicates itself by modifying other computer programs and inserting its own code.

Viruses are most commonly spread through some kind of binding method. That means we already said a virus is a program code and the attacker can bind or add to the source code of any genuine program or inject it with media files too.

2. TYPES OF VIRUS

Computer Virus

A computer virus is a type of virus that affects a particular file or disk drive of a computer system and then it spread to other disk drives or machines through these affected files.

Malware

Malware is a file or code, delivered through the network for damage to a computer, server, client, or computer network and steals the contents too.

Spyware

Spyware is software, that installs in the victim system without his knowledge for collecting information about him like emails, calls, notifications..etc.

Adware

Adware is a type of advertisement and is repeatedly visible on the victim's device and attacker earn revenue from these advertisements.

Ransomware

Ransomeware is a type of virus attack that the attacker locks the victim’s system until paying the compensation.

Worms

Worms are the self-replicating virus, which means the virus spreads copies of itself from one machine to another machine into the whole network.

Trojan

In most cases, Trojan works on the vulnerability exploiting, an attacker makes a backdoor to the machine through the exploit until patching the particular vulnerability.

RootKits

RootKit is a type of software designed to enable malicious privilege access to a computer while actively hiding its presence.

Bots

The Bot is a program designed to automatically carry out some specific operations. Once a Bot affects to machine it executes some commands without the user's approval.

3. IMPACT OF VIRUS AFFECTING

  • Slower the operating speed of the machine.
  • Issues with program files, like missing some files, unable to open certain operations, sometimes open unknown applications.
  • Sometimes machines perform weird behavior.
  • Sometimes redirect from browser home pages to unfamiliar websites.
  • The attacker steals personal data including credentials too and spoofed it.
  • Interprets and disable services.
  • Maybe completely break down the entire enterprise's network infrastructures.
  • Sometimes viruses can control all operations on the affected devices.

4. HOW TO TAKE CARE AGAINST VIRUS

  • Keep software and security patches up to date.
  • Install Antivirus software.
  • Be careful with unknown source emails.
  • Avoid clicking on links to websites with suspicious names.
  • Avoid usage of Pirated (unauthorized copy of copyrighted software) software.
  • Regularly back up computer data to the cloud.
  • Use firewalls.
  • Install popup blocker.
